Tune Your Own Screening, and Prove Every Change

Tune Your Own Screening, and Prove Every Change

By Victor Tay
July 6, 2026

You answer to regulators for how your screening works. But for years, older tools did not let you change much of it. How strict the matching is, how often you screen, what news gets pulled in: the tool decided. Changing anything meant a support request, a wait, a bill for custom work, or the change just never got made.

That has to change. Regulators now expect your team to own how screening is tuned, and to prove it. So we have put the settings in your hands. You tune them yourself, with no support ticket and no bill for custom work, and you test every change before it goes live.

Provable configuration: test every change before it goes live

Every change can be tested before it goes live. You make it in a separate test workspace, run it against cases you already know, and see the result before any real customer is screened. If it looks right, you turn it on.

That test is also your proof. When a regulator asks why you changed a setting, you can show the same cases before and after, plus a log of who changed what and when.

What the legacy tools could not do

Legacy tools never worked this way. Teams that switch from those tools tell us the same thing: changing anything meant calling the vendor, so the settings sat untouched for years. Screening drifts from the risks it should catch, and no one feels safe to change anything.

Minerva fixes that. You hold the settings, and you test before anything goes live.

What you can now configure

Minerva screens sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP), adverse media, criminal and watchlist sources, and more. You can now tune all of it.

  • Match scoring. Start from a preset - Balanced, Narrow, or Wide - then tune the details: score thresholds per feed, how much each kind of evidence counts toward a match, and how matching handles transposed names, initials, hyphenation, and dates.
  • Screening frequency. In ongoing monitoring, set how often sanctions, PEP, and adverse-media news each re-screen, on their own schedules: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, twice a year, yearly, or off. Sanctions can also run on deltas, screening only the records that changed since the last run.
  • Profile Groups. Group your customers by risk, product, or region, and give each group its own screening frequency. A long-time low-risk account and a high-risk corporate one no longer need to screen on the same schedule.
  • Adverse media. Control how news is pulled in: how tightly to focus on the subject's geography, how strictly to filter by name, and how many articles to retrieve.

Get started

These settings are live in Minerva now. If you are a customer, your admins will find them in your workspace settings, and our team can help you set them up. View our docs here.
